Further to Mel Pedersen and Gabriel Roy's mails on the test standards for Audio/Video equipment, my understanding is that, for products that would fall under UL1492 in the US, the international standard would be IEC 65, the latest version of which is IEC 65 : 1985, Amendment 3 : 1992. This has been adopted as the european standard EN60065 : 1993.
However, for professional equipment which would fall under UL1419, we believe the applicable standards would be IEC 950 / EN 60950. I am not aware of any definitive, officially endorsed cross-reference list between international, european and US test standards (it would be nice if there was one !). The issue of which test standard is applicable to a particular product is one that has to be agreed between the test house, such as ourselves, and the manufacturer.
