This is a more interesting problem than identified here. If you are making a
D of C for the US (unfortunately, I think that is the only initials for the
NIST/NVLAP/A2LA conformity document for emissions), you really have the same
problem and the FCC doesn't have a method for getting around it easily.
This similar problem, is essentially the same. An end supplier
doesn't want the real manufacturers name on the product. The FCC used to be
able to identify the real manufacturer from the FCC ID number. That
satisfied the Feds, and it satisfied the re-seller, because it was
encrypted, if you will. Once the new program came about the FCC ID is no
longer required and the Feds have lost the ability to track us down like the
rats that we are. So like the European DOC the question is how to do so.
One method that I have used with a very large customer who didn't
want us identified, was buy having two reports made up one with our
information and product numbers, stating that the product is identical to
the end seller's product number. Then paying to have a second report
generated with only the customer's names and numbers.
This was actually suggested by the end seller, who felt that this
system allowed them to be fully traceable should the Fed's ever inquire.
Seemed to have worked, here and in Europe where the reseller was
based.
I certainly wouldn't try this on my recommendation (so far that
hasn't been a problem either at work or at home) but its worth a thought.

IMHO, since you are the manufacturer, and since "your"
compliance label is
still on the device, and assuming they make no "significant"
changes to the
product or manual, then your DofC should be the one shipping
with the unit.
They need not do a DofC.

All CE folks-
Question about the content of a DOC for CE marking of a
product that is
private-labeled for another client. Our product (ITE) is
sold in Europe by
our company, and of course is shipped with a DOC in each
box.
We now have a partner that plans to ship our unit with their
front bezel,
in
their box, with their "OEM'd" version of our manual. The
unit will still
have the same compliance label, with all the appropriate
markings.
What should be on the DOC packed with these partner labeled
units? Should
we
just reference our original reports, but have the partner be
the
signatory,
listing their model number, etc.? Or can they just ship a
copy of our DOC
along with some sort of correlation notice indicating that
the partner's
unit is the same as ours, except for the name?
