Peter,

One of the requirements for North America is for the FCC.
Per 47CFR2.803,

...Provided, however, That the advertising or display of a device,
which has not been granted type approval, type acceptance,
certification, or notification, will not be deemed to be an
offer for sale if such advertising contains, and the display is
accompanied by, conspicuous notice worded as follows:

This device has not been approved by the Federal
Communications Commission. This device is not,
and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or
sold or leased until the approval of the FCC
        has been obtained.

To meet this requirement, we provide this notice on a label
on Beta systems when EMI testing is incomplete.

Regards,
Dan

Peter

I (and probably a number of other people) would be most grateful to know
where you got the guidance for Europe - can you point me in the right
direction please?

Many thanks

Subject: Regulations Regarding Beta-Site Equipment

Hello from Tel Aviv!

In Europe, we understand that requirements for equipment intended for beta
sites must have a prominent warning sign on equipment stating
non-compliance with the applicable Directives. Also, the equipment must be
under the ownership of the manufacturer and must be operated and maintained
by the manufacturer's staff.

What are the requirements for equipment for beta-sites entering North
America?
