I have the same information from Approval magazine (www.approval.co.uk). Editor
Adrian MacLeod says that lobbying from US companies and those who trade with
North America has led to this further extension to 31 Dec 2009. The EC wants the
US to allow only the use of SI units, but it seems that European industry too is
happy to let things remain as they are, as change means cost!
However as the latest Mars probe fiasco shows, continuing to use different units
also costs.
