Stuart, I think you were asking about bulk-quantity discounts. I have bought single-copies from the IEC website (needs a credit card): www.iec.ch. You might find some info on the same site, apologies if you tried already. If you only want IEC _EMC_ standards, I think they have a package of those, used to be on CD-ROM and was quite a good deal.

The standards are issued, but not sold, by Cenelec, http://www.cenelec.org/ then republished by the National standards bodies in each EU country: BSI, SS, DIN etc. Sometimes they are translated into the respective national language. Option 1: Most EN standards are similar (sometimes identical) to an equivalent IEC or ISO standard. (Example: EN 60204-1 is almost the same as IEC 60204-1.) So, it is often easier & sometimes cheaper to buy the IEC edition, see above (http://www.iec.ch). To research equivalence, look at a hardcopy, or an old edition, or go to http://www.cenelec.org/ then click on "Standardisation Activities" (CENELEC has a useful, but s-l-o-w site!) There are three main types of PDF file: text, image, and image-with-hidden-text. The first and last can be searched. In almost all cases, standards are sold as searchable PDF file. You can usually copy text extracts from the file (depends on security settings of publisher). All the standards I have seen permit printing, although this option can be disabled by the publisher. The image-with-hidden-text files are scanned images that have been imported into a PDF file. This quality is usually good, but the file is much bigger. Some publishers will then "capture" the text from the image using OCR, so that you can search the file (and maybe copy text); however there may be a few errors in the OCR. Some scanned image files are image only. The standards are usually sold with a single-user license.
