Compliance Engineer

A permanent position located in Dallas, TX

Work for one of the preeminent providers of semiconductor solutions in the
United States. This is a new position that will allow you to install a
classification to a new manufacturing facility located in China.
· Define a classification process for new technology, software and products.
· Allow business growth into controlled countries and insure US Export
compliance for all semiconductor products by developing a process to speed
classification of new products, encryption, and technology.
· Streamline the process to reduce licensing requirements and minimize
delays in obtaining government approval to ship product to controlled
countries.
· The organization is a matrix type of organization with a great deal of
contact with various internal organizations (Legal, WPL, Corporate
Compliance and Government Relations) as well as company business units and
U.S. government offices.
· The individual selected needs to set a strategy for classification of
existing and new products, technology and software.
· Must ensure a quick cycle time for classification of product and gaining
ability to ship the product to customers worldwide.
· Other deliverables include: classifications of all items covered under US
export regulations, a technology and classification database, classification
audits, and developing classification training.
· This person will also need to serve as a member of joint
government/industry committees, i.e. Regulations and Procedures Technical
Advisory committees.
· Complex government regulations must be interpreted, adhered to, and where
possible influence change to achieve it's business goals.
· Opportunity to lead a team of coworkers in improving processes that will
open new markets and aiding in substantial revenue growth.
· Need to be able to drive to a decision in an area of ambiguity

Required
· Must have several years experience in export regulations for technology
products
· Experience classifying items covered under US export regulations, a
technology and classification database, classification audits, and
developing classification training.
· Experienced in interpreting government regulations in the area of import/
export (ideally have been an author of this type of regulation).
· Individual needs a broad understanding of technology across product lines
and is able to converse with individuals in a variety of technical
disciplines.
· Must be able to work with people at all levels inside and outside of the
company, and will need to lead, organize and train an semiconductor
classification team.
· Able to lead and/or assist with industry lobbying efforts to decontrol
products/technology.
· Education: Bachelor's in EE or Business

Plus
· Candidate for this position is probably a government employee that has
authored export regulations.
