Conformity assessment in Australia is via declaration of conformity and
supporting compliance folder. There is no "approval" to be applied for. The
compliance folder should include a copy of the Part 15.247 report, among
other things.
The C-tick is required on this kind of WLAN device, and the Supplier Code
Number (SCN) that accompanies the mark on the label is what will link the
product to the responsible party in Australia for ACA enforcement. If the
manufacturer is not an Australian company that role of responsible party is
filled by an agent in Australia. It would be the agent's SCN appearing on
the label, and the agent would sign the DoC and maintain the compliance
folder. ACA (the regulator) says an agency agreement should be in place to
clarify who is responsible for compliance of the equipment in the market.
Since there is no submission to be made or certification granted, the time
frame on this can be quite short. We would probably turn around and ask how
quickly the manufacturer needs to ship the product.
