Minor correction of myself. Of course inverters draw harmonic current, from their DC source: harmonics of the inverter's internal switching frequency. What I meant was inverters don't draw the type of harmonic currents that have been the subject of new regulations over the past few years (EN61000-3-2 etc).

That didn't make sense to me: an inverter is a DC-AC converter that has no connection to an AC source and draws no harmonic current. The only thing I could think of is that maybe they were on about harmonic content of the output, not the input.
