IEC 60417 Symbols 5007 and 5008 are neither:
the numbers 1 and 0, nor
the letters I and O.
They are the symbols depicted in the 60417 drawings,
specifically a vertical line and a circle.
My comment is that the ETYMOLOGY of the 5007 and 5008
symbols are the numbers one and zero.
