why cant the 3 amp only be marked?
its the lower current rating
thus best protective of a product,
many labels of ratings for equipment
state 110/220, yet, you only see the lower
voltage's ( 110)'s current(higher) rating on the product,
please educate me why this fuse situation
is more critical/important than a units overall current
marking stamped on the power ratings.

Hi Peter:


A fuse is a safeguard.  The rating is critical to
the fuse's performance as a safeguard.

If the fuse is replaceable, then the fuse rating
must be marked to assure replacement with the
same rating and thereby continue the effectiveness
of the safeguard function.

The required fuse is either a  250 V, 3 A fuse
(North American), or a 250 V, 3.15 A fuse (other
countries).  Since the product is to be marketed
worldwide, BOTH ratings must be marked on the
product.

(I presume you have tested the product with both
fuses to prove that each provides the required
degree of safeguarding.)

For North America, you would still need the
warning.
