Does anyone have an idea as to what the applicable European and North American safety standards are for a product controller-with-power supply-with-floor display (displaying the floor arrived at) which is installed in a lift/elevator for people? The controller is not relied upon for correct floor operation (e.g. stopping between floors for instance , but is used by elevator operator to only select which floor to arrive at). For correct operation reliance is on a Driver Circuit not provided by Manufacturer. Would it be necessary to apply the Lifts Directive or can we establish the use of Machinery or Low Voltage Directive in this case? Remember the Lift itself is excluded from this query.
