Qinetiq. 16:45 Finish Information available on speakers and talks: "Considering the Humble Amplifier and its role in RF Immunity testing". Selecting an appropriate amplifier to provide power for an EMC Immunity test seems a simple decision but since watts cost money in the amplifier world it is critical that the decision is optimised. This presentation will examine in simple terms the correct way to define the amplifier for the task and ensure that the resultant system will meet the requirements of the standard at minimum cost. Presented by John Dearing, RF Product manager for Schaffner a world leader in EMC test equipment. Educated in electronic engineering John spent his early years working in TWT development before moving to a sales and marketing role. He has been working with the EMC community for ten years and has extensive experience of all forms of RF testing. Now primarily responsible for the Schaffner range of RF power amplifiers and the successful Compliance 3 test software John often has to discuss am! p! lifier application in various test standards. "Update on the EMC Directive situation and standards". Brian Jones is a consultant specialising in the provision of advice and training on how to meet the requirements of EMC standards and regulations. He is also secretary to the CENELEC EMC standards committee and technical advisor to the DTI on EMC matters. "Potential for using Pulsed Amplifiers in EMC Immunity Applications", this paper outlines the benefits and disadvantages of using a purely pulsed system for immunity testing. This would involve a change of procedures and equipment but could result in substantial cost savings. The intention of the paper is to ask the EMC immunity testing community "are you interested" ? Written and presented by Dominic FitzPatrick, Technical Director at Milmega the UK and Europe's leading supplier of solid state microwave power amplifiers for the EMC market. Dominic holds a Masters in Microwave Solid State Physics, and has been designing microwave amplifiers for the past 20 years. "Immunity testing; current practice and the future". Steve Hayes is the Principal UK expert to CISPR/B and Secretary of WG1 and 2, the Standard which covers large equipment and in-situ tests. TRL is a product approval company based in the UK. Steve has worked for TRL for 13 years and is responsible for TRL's EMC and Radio Division comprising of 3 EMC test facilities and mobile test teams. The afternoon event is an open meeting. All welcome. There is no charge for meeting attendance. If you plan to attend this event you need to register by informing: Roy Ediss Email; roy.ed...@philips.com Book early to avoid disappointment. Lunch may be purchased on-site in the Refectory which is located under the Berril Lecture Theatre.
