Jeff Chambers asked: <and the Laplace unit seems good value for money to the small organisation I work for. Does anybody have experience with this instrument, that would provide that 'warm feeling'?>
I used the Laplace analyser and their Antenna as well, with very useful and very reliable results over the period 1994 to 2000 or so. It's not 'Calibrated' as such, and I don't suppose it's results would stand up in a court of law if you were arguing about +/- 1db. But as a diagnostic and emissions indicator it was quite invaluable, and very reliable. It's a simple device, very small, very cheap, basically a scanning AM receiver with AGC indication, and a simple Log perodic antenna, but does what it says on the tin very well. If used for checking emissions for absolute compliance, leave a few db's safety marging and it should be a very good indicator. Good luck.
