Hi Robert: By using the phrase 'Y cap', I assume you're talking about an application where the parts are connected from AC mains to Ground.
1) Some Y caps can have a very big voltage coefficient. Even if you match them by hand with a bridge, they may not be matched with 120Vac or 230Vac applied. 2) If the AC phases have different voltages (i.e., 1Vac from Neutral-Ground and 120Vac from Line-Ground), you could have a very big mismatch in capacitance.
