Of the three chambers I've been involved with building, two have sprinklers and one doesn't. It all depends on what you can get away with when dealing with the local fire marshal. The first was a 10 meter chamber in Cupertino, CA. Fixed heads in a dry, pre-action system. The second was a 3 meter chamber in Hillsboro, OR. No sprinklers. The third was a 3 meter chamber in DuPont, WA. Pop down dry, pre-action system. The first two chambers were welded rooms, the third a modular room. I figure that if the sprinklers ever go in that chamber it will be a write off. And the old chamber in Cupertino would need new absorber at the bare minimum. Actually, after 18 years it does anyway, but that's another story.
Good luck. If your luck runs right (and it does for most folks) the worst the sprinkler will do is add cost to the construction of the chamber. Ghery S.
