You want a minimum voltage drop rather than the thinnest cable that is 
rated for 10 A, so I suggest 2.5 mm^2 flexible,

Are you sure that IEC/EN 60065 isn't more appropriate?

You mean type of connector? No, not for 10 A. Considering that there 
have been serious problems with the power connectors for portable 
computers failing and even burning up, and these are working at about 5 
A maximum, I recommend choosing a low-trouble rather than  a low-cost 
connector.
