Hi All,
Time for my next Technical Tidbit article, this time on cleaning up scope
waveforms (reducing unwanted noise in the waveform).

Technical Tidbit - January 2011
Using Averaging to Cleanup Scope Waveforms
This month's Technical Tidbit details one way of reducing noise in
oscilloscope waveforms, averaging. Results and limitations are discussed.
Abstract: Noise can contaminate oscilloscope waveforms for a variety of
reasons. ESD generated noise is among the worst in this respect. The
waveformaveraging function in many oscilloscopes can be used to minimize
sometypes of noise in the waveform, especially ESD generated noise. Use of
averaging for cleaning up scope waveforms is discussed as well as
limitationsof the method.

Anyone going to CES in Las Vegas? I plan to arrive on Friday for Saturday
andSunday. Chances of finding any particular person there by chance is
minuscule as there are 2500 exhibitors and 120,000 people! It dwarfs the
IEEEEMC Symposium. Good for consultants to attend though.
