But it's true that plug-transformers with the cable exit from the face adjacent to the earth pin are a relatively recent phenomenon. I wonder why they are designed that way. They can't be used with some 2- and 3-way plug adapters, but of course they are not normally a problem if used with extension boards. Maybe they are adapted, without sufficient thought, from designs using the reversible Schuko plug. -- OOO - Own Opinions Only.
