NSWC-94/L07 - Handbook of Reliability Prediction Procedures for Mechanical Equipment This handbook, developed by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division provides failure rate models for fundamental classes of mechanical components. Examples of the specific mechanical devices addressed by the document include belts, springs, bearings, seals, brakes, slider-crank mechanisms, and clutches. Failure rate models include factors that are known to impact the reliability of the components. < /span> NPRD-95 The Non-electronic Parts Reliability Data (NPRD-95) databook is published by the Reliability Analysis Center and provides historical field failure rate data on a wide variety of mechanical assemblies. I'm sure someone has mentioned it in the same breath as Mil Hdbk 217F. Can someone help me with a reference, please?! And any book recommendations on the subject (preferably titled "The Idiot's Guide to...")? For your interest, we're doing some safety assessments (to IEC 61508) of a new piece of equipment with a view to achieving an appropriate SIL rating.
