There are no such provisions within the Machinery Directive.

I will add my voice to those who have pointed out 
that the use of the phrase "put into service" is 
intended to ensure that the Machinery Directive 
is applied to equipment which is manufactured or 
imported for the manufacturer's (or importer's) 
own use.

ยง80 of the Commission Guide to the Machinery 
Directive states: "A person who manufactures 
machinery for his own use is considered as a 
manufacturer and must fulfil all the obligations 
set out in Article 5...".
