Indeed. The original enquiry was:

  Any ideas on when (if) DoC references to 73/23/EEC were officially 
incorrect?

For manufacturers, then, the date for 'officially incorrect, but 
exceptionally permitted' was 16 January 2007. My advice was that steps 
should be taken by manufacturers to update DoCs by 16 January 2008, and 
by retailers to clear stock referring to 73/23/EEC by 16 January 2009, 
although passing these dates would be unlikely to be frowned on, unless 
in the interim a significant problem emerged, relating to the old 
Directive but not the new one.

I'm surprised that it proved controversial.
