The Huntsville chapters of the IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
Society and the Aerospace & Electronic Systems (AESS) Society invite you to
attend a technical meeting on November 12, 2009. The program will begin at
6:30 pm with the National and Local Chapters of the EMC Society cosponsoring a
free catered meal. Mr. Joffe’s presentation will begin at approximately 7pm
after some short chapter status updates.

Synopsis:

Electromagnetics theory is surrounded by mystery and magic, mostly because the
mathematics required for solving Maxwell’s equations are messy enough that
most of us avoid them at all costs! Never mind solving them, few of us even
have a clear perception of what they actually say... EMC is even worse, often
considered black magic! This presentation is intended to demystify the very
basics of electromagnetic theory - Maxwell's Equations. The presentation will
provide explanations in everyday terms, and without the need for mathematics
the meaning and implication of Maxwell's equations for the practicing
engineer. Some of the basic symbols used in mathematics, such as integration,
derivatives, and bizarre vector symbols and their implications are explained.
Through these simple explanations, Maxwell’s equations will then "see the
light". An example related to the flow of return currents in circuits will be
used to illustrate the principles described previously.

The meeting will be held at ADTRAN in the East Tower Conference Center Room
273. The directions can be obtained from Paul Stover at paul.sto...@adtran.com.

The meal and presentations are open to anyone interested in EMC: IEEE
membership is not required to attend.

The EMC Society and local chapter are sponsoring the free catered meal.
Seating is limited to the first 150 who reply, so you must RSVP to Paul Stover
at paul.sto...@adtran.com <mailto:paul.sto...@adtran.com> as soon as you can,
but no later than close of business November 10, 2009 if you want to attend.
You will receive a confirmation email from Paul.

IMPORTANT – Please note the time change from our normal meeting schedule.
This starts one hour later.

I hope to see you there!
