List, In Canada, agencies are accredited by SCC (the Standards Council of Canada, http://www.scc.ca). Certification and Inspection Body accreditations are national in nature. Each Province and Territory has their own AHJ that enforces the Provincial or Territorial electricity act and regulations, but this typically pertains more to building and distribution installations and not to products. Most of the AHJ's have an accredited inspection arm that does field evaluations along with building electrical inspections, but their labels are only valid in the Province or Territory where they have jurisdiction.
i.e. CSA is accredited as a Certification Body in Canada and their mark is accepted across the country. QPS is accredited as an Inspection Body and their label is accepted across the country. Ontario's ESA (Electrical Safety Authority) is Ontario's AHJ and is an accredited Inspection Body WITHIN Ontario. Their label is meaningless anywhere else in the country. -- Doug Nix, A.Sc.T.
