Safety and Compliance Engineer

 

Responsibilities:

.         The position will participate in the development of product
specifications, ensuring project compliance to internal and external
standards, coordinating safety agency marking and regulatory compliance,
coordinating the risk analysis activities, and creating and managing the
quality engineering deliverables.

.         Requires intimate knowledge and practical application experience
with the achievement of CE marking and RoHS compliance for complex
engineering systems.

.         Requires intimate knowledge and practical application experience
of the following standards

1.      Machinery Directive - 2006/42/EC; Low Voltage Directive -
12100;2010; Safety of Machinery Risk Assessment - EN 14121;2008

2.      Functional Safety of Electrical/Electronic/Programmable Electronic
Safety-related Systems IEC/EN 61508; Safety of machinery - Functional safety
of safety-related electrical, electronic and programmable electronic control
systems - IEC/EN 62061

*       Provides input and direction to Mechanical, Electrical and Controls
engineers in the development of complex automation handling systems
*       Reports and presents Safety and Compliance status of released
products and products under development to upper level management.
*       Experience with development and implementation of safety and
compliance procedures into cross functional product development processes as
well as operations processes.
*       Defines protocols, writes test plans, and conducts the necessary
testing required to validate the safety and effectiveness of the cross
functional designs. 
*       Researches and recommends advances in safety system design and code
compliant solutions to complex engineering systems.
*       Approves mechanical and electrical documentation, specifications and
drawings from the compliance perspective.
*       A willingness to travel 15% is desired

Qualifications:

*       BS or MS in an Engineering discipline with significant experience
performing as a Safety and Compliance lead within an engineering
organization. 
*       Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple projects and
meet deadlines
*       Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
*       Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
*       Ability to work on cross-functional teams and get along with others
