Group,

I'm trying to ferret out answers while not having the associated standards
in my possession (common problem for many of us). I need the answer
quickly and I'm hoping the one of our list members has experience with this
question.

A Vishay IR Diode is used to communicate with remote devices. Vishay data
indicates that the diode in question meets the IEC 60825-1 Class 1 limits
"at absolute maximum ratings and using the Simplified Method". That is all
well and good. Now the question for this EN 60950-1 device is this: Is
that specification adequate for CE Marking compliance or does the diode
still need to be subjected to an EN 60825-1 and -12 investigation in the
end-user device in addition to the EN 60950-1 investigation?

As always - thanks very much in advance.

Carl
