Interesting discussion about the 40th parallel. As it turns out the exploration of the American territories in years past has often involved this line. I personally drive across this delimiter every day, traveling to and from work. My workplace in Louisville Colorado is at latitude 39.96745 degrees north, less than 2 miles away. This parallel is marked by "Baseline Road", named for the very same and celebrated geographic feature.
