Hi Scott,

For CE marking most batteries do not fall under the LVD and therefore are not
directly regulated for safety. However most end product standards will have a
component requirement for EN 62133 (secondary) or EN 60086-4 (primary). If you
plan to apply for CB Scheme on the end the product the IEC versions of these
standards will likely be mandatory.

As you also mention the battery directive as well as UN 38.3 transportation
requirements do apply.

Best Regards,

Subject: [PSES] Batteries & rechargeable batteries storage & transportation

Dear All,

We have a customer requesting safety compliant but unclear what the exact
requirements. The products include standalone batteries and rechargeable
battery pack in the products. As far as i know, battery directive 2006/66/EC
and product safety directive are legal requirements for these types of product.
I have learnt IEC 62133 is for battery and battery pack requirements. Is IEC
62133 a legal requirement for said products? Apart from it, is there any other
requirement to be complied?

Thanks!

Scott
