Hi Stephen, I would like to add more insights of Brian’s good advice. UN packaging – As lithium-ion battery is considered as dangerous goods, you have to meet this requirements for air shipment, otherwise, flight forwarder will not accept your goods. Even sea shipment, you have to comply with IMDG Code. EN 62133 is mandatory requirement to most end product applicable standards. Clause 8.3.9 must be applied. As China is large market share of supply, applying GB 31241 2014 is better. You have to clarify if the battery charger is built-in your end product or not for correct classification of EPS. Battery charger is critical component to protect the battery cell from overheating, bursting into flame or explosion. In addition, cell factory quality control is important as well. Consider IEEE 1725 or something similar. Regards, Scott On 29/10/2016, 3:01 AM, "Brian O'Connell" <oconne...@tamuracorp.com> wrote: 1. Review the requirements and standards for secondary batteries referenced in the safety standard(s) scoped by your end-use equipment. 2. Review UN packaging and transport standards and regulations for Li batteries. 3. Understand that EN62133 is a minimalist approach to battery safety. 4. Determine if separate charger standard is normative for the scope of the end-use equipment.
