The problem of teaching English grammar is that there are 10 rules and 10 million exceptions. A few lessons on grammar need to be supplemented by many more on 'usage'.

John,

I blame modern education. Unbelievably we only covered English grammar in one or two English lessons in one academic year. We learnt more grammar in French lessons than English ones. Thankfully my kids are getting a good grounding in grammar. My son even has Latin class at secondary school!

Despite even this I can still sometimes write good.

All the best

Septum, neuter. Plural septa. Neuter plural always ends in 'a'. Write 100 times. ;-)

Thinking aloud here: would such a factor exist as a generic
formula? If I think about this the other way round, putting 1V of
RF into the coax connector will generate 1V between the septum and
ground (or between the septums? septii? in the case of a
    differential GTEM like a Laplacell).
