It uses the DAC7644E, very similar.
It has 16 opto-isolated digital inputs, plus a 17th which is part of a 
complete
       hardware E-stop control.
it has sockets for 8 solid state relays.
The encoder board handles 4 axes, and can have a mix of differential and
single-ended inputs, as needed.

So, the set is 3 boards plus a motherboard that holds 8 boards of mixed 
types
as needed.  The motherboards are expandable, so you could run 16 or even 
more
boards off one parallel port.
