Not sure exactly what you mean in penultimate sentence, but I would be
apprehensive if you are hot-swapping the cable as the TTL at either end could
get into trouble depending on when the ground pins make contact relative to the
signal.
Could the test of the Linux box, that show that it works, perhaps not use all
the pins you need for the Rutex or might the tuning software get away with
fewer pins when SPIing than the normal step/dir setup uses?
Just a though...

I am running emc2.something .
I agree I do not believe this is an emc issue as much as a rutex issue.
Since help from rutex is pointless I am hoping that I can find an emc work
around.
According to rutex the 2020 drive has an internal pull up for step&dir mode.
I don't know how I would test this.
The cables from the linux box are the same cables that I use for the windows
box. I swap cable from on to the other and the windows box with rutex software
runs. I should not that I do change the db15 cable for the rutex motherboard.
This cable provides motherboard power and sets the drive to tune.
