Compiling RTAI is no fun.  Only a few of the EMC developers have done 
so. (I'm not one of them - I've avoided compiling kernels so far in my 
Linux career.)  I'm afraid we will be of limited help.  That is the 
reason for the original BDI distribution (a distro that included a RTAI 
patched kernel) and it is the reason that we distribute patched kernel 
packages for Ubuntu now.

I find it odd that 2.6+RTAI is giving you grief, and normally would be 
skeptical that a change to 2.4 would solve the problem.  But its hard to 
argue with actual test results.
