In current versions, you have to create a dummy Y axis as [AXIS_1] in the inifile. For the AXIS GUI there's a special item you also put in the inifile to make it use "lathe mode" which among other things skips display of the "Y" axis. this is in the documentation, which I don't have handy from here.
