Sure, but you have to make the thread in a single pass. Without the feedback, there would be no way to align a second pass with the first one. But, if you can cut the thread in one pass, then you need to know the exact spindle speed, and you can compute the right feed rate knowing that RPM. The more accurately you know the spindle speed, the more accurate the thread pitch will be.
