I have started work on my Bridgeport mill. I jury rigged a Sanyo P5 1kW
motor with a Rutex amp to get an idea about if it will work. I can get
it to move, but at times during the motion it pulses at about four times
a second, or stalls with a jerk at the pulse timing. Sometimes it will
even reverse direction for a while. I have a fair amount of noise on the
encoder lines that seem to be from the motor R, S, T lines. I am now
working at solving the noise problems by checking grounds, shielding and
ferrite beading, but I got to thinking about the hall encoder and motor
lines. Will the motor function at all if I wire the Halls out of sync
with the motor lines? My guess is, not even close, but if so, is there a
way to figure out how to correct it? Another symptom is, at idle I get a
smooth increasing torque when I manually deflect the motor shaft in one
direction, and a weaker torque and pulsing by deflecting the motor shaft
in the other. As always, I am grateful for any advise.
