Now that you've got both so they will install, I'd install the Debian
first and make certain that it works okay.  Then pop in the Ubuntu disk
and there is a question about partitioning, whether you want to use the
whole HD or have the installer shrink the existing Linux partition.
Answer it to save the existing and shrink to make room for the new.

After the second install you will see a menu right after the PC boots
that will allow you to select the Debian or the Ubuntu.  I believe that
it will make the Ubuntu the default.  You can edit a file to change this
if you need.
