An option to webcam could be a desktop setup to stream video.
Back here in Brazil, we stream our talk rooms on every FISL.

Could advise on how to setup a encoder/streaming station.

So we could watch workshops on multiple locations (Brasil, US, Europe).

We could also use a web based IRC client (http://mibbit.com/).
