with a router/spindle, I was contemplating swapping spindle/router and all rather than re-mounting a bit. For just a couple of tools it might be less expensive than some of the commercial changer mechanisms. Especially using smaller 'trim routers'.

It is not just a good idea, it is the law. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Len Shelton Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2008 11:50 PM To: 'Enhanced Machine Controller (EMC)' Subject: Re: [Emc-users] manual tool change Thanks for the answer, but what can we do about this? I would say that 95% of the EMC2 user base (especially the newer silent ones) are using off the shelf routers for thier spindles and do not have presetable tool options. How hard would it be to make it function like I described? I could fairly easily probe the tool length after swapping each bit, but I'd still need to jog during the tool change and still maintain my x and y reference. If you don't have presetable tools and your not set up to probe the tool length then the best plan is to split up your g code for each tool needed.
