a vote here also for a machine program pause function, which then allows one to
switch into MDI mode and jog & move all axis stop/start spindel etc,

if using it for a tool change i would exspect EMC would have to rerun program or
something to reload all high offsets and datums as you have change the H value.
this i have no problem with if you could pause the program, life up, insert new
tool, measure hight, add it to the tool table, then mark the program for restart
and EMC would quickly run through the program, load all S values, H, M , G codes
etc, then go on its way when it came to the marked place.

Our philips control on our big lathe can do this, you just pick the N numbner to
start from, it does a quick fast run through on program from start and loads up
all the spindel speed, tool lengths etc etc (you can see it going through the
code line by line) onces it gets to the marked N number it then starts the
spindel into motion and drives onto the location picked.

as said before, G02 G03 move might make things tricky to start on, as well as
strange place to start anyways so maybe a G02 move should be marked as not being
able to start on? what do you think, G01 or G00 line only (plus afew otehrs)

a program restart if something you dont see all too often on controls, saying
that when it is done it can work very well, other times not so well.
any one who has used controls with this function i think realy should come chip
in and let the devs know what realy does work and what doesn't
