I have had similar problems. When using a PCI card, I was only getting 480X640 for the monitor, but in the Xconfig, I could see the monitor would support 10 other configs. Not being comfortable in the linux environment yet, could you provide a quick detail on how you did this either here or in the WIKI? It would be a great help.
