I think you meant the white button, as I read in your original post. I found the same was true with my pendant. No apparent purpose in that. I need one hand to slip the gauge block under the tool, so I left it the way it was. I have 2 more unused wires in the cable so I could re-wire the white button for a momentary flood toggle or something.
