Terry,

You basically have it right. That configuration will use all of the pins on
the P2 connector, but leave P3 and P4 available for gpio. Note that the I/O
is on the odd pins, all even pins are grounds (same as the old 5i20 driver).

OK I did a little reading and I hope I have this right

If I change this line:

CONFIG="firmware=hm2/5i20/SVST8_4.BIT num_encoders=3 num_pwmgens=4
num_stepgens=1"

to this:

CONFIG="firmware=hm2/5i20/SVST8_4.BIT num_encoders=4 num_pwmgens=4
num_stepgens=0"

I can have the step gen pins as gpio pins?

Also I can have the pins that are listed as the encoders (and pwms) on
channels that are numbered larger than the four that I am using? (4,5,6,ect)

I hope this is right as it sounds good to me.
