Holy Cow! All of you had really good replies to my questions about 
homing. I just love this place. I only hope that I can learn enough 
someday to give back.

Being a non-cnc user, it never occurred to me that homing a machine 
gives you things like:

The ability for a machine to help prepare a fast moving table for 
stopping would be important.

The ability to find the exact position of your vise/fixture setup after 
a power down.

The option of leaving certain tools like a vise or a fourth axis always 
bolted down, ready for use because the machine knows exactly where 
they're at.

Very cool ideas. I will plan on some kind of homing feature for my 
retrofit. Thanks gentlemen!
