I believe torque or load is relative to motor current, if so, you should
be able to get a torque value from measuring an analog voltage across
a .1 Ohm (just an example) resistor on the motor or motor supply line,
then divide by .1 . An analog Hall sensor might work also. The trick
might be in "conditioning" the signal by averaging the real time data.
If you have a separate mains plug for your spindle motor power supply,
it might be interesting to plug a Kill-a-Watt between the supply and its
outlet:
