My Ubuntu computer is out in the shop, and I cannot check it right
now, but I found a forum that shows how to do it from the command line:

Down at the bottom of page 1, and page 2 talks about adding "text" to
the kernel line in grub. I'm sorry if this is not what you are looking
for, for me, it's easier to use the command line.
