You should consider upgrading machines from 6.06 if you want to run
master (or even 2.4 for that matter).  However, I've committed a fix to
make master work on 6.06 again since the fix turned out to be easy.

    Ubuntu 6.06's python-cairo does not have get_data.  We don't
    officially support 6.06 anymore, but this fix is easy.
