I can't reproduce the keyboard problem you describe. Here are the steps I followed: * start emc 2.4.2 (I used a run-in-place sim build on ubuntu 10.04) * in the config selector, choose sim/axis * using a standard USB HID keyboard, press the following sequence of keys: F1 F2 * press and hold right-arrow This sequence of keys brings the machine out of e-stop, turns the machine on, and jogs towards +X.
If I misunderstood the problem you're trying to describe, please try explaining it again. A step by step explanation may help me understand what you're trying to get at. > >Use a different name for your modified version of hal_manualtoolchange. > >Except for "configuration files", dpkg always overwrites all package > >files when installing upgrades, so we have no freedom to change this > >behavior while using debian packaging for emc2. > > Is it referenced anywhere else but in the .hal file? The only references are in the hal file.
