You're right, of course, Erik.

I bought the BB-xM precisely as "an excuse to play with ARM" because I 
knew I could use it in a robot project unrelated to EMC2. I figure that, 
since Jon is so excited about it, he sees a way to bridge between it and 
the usual CNC-driver infrastructure. If he doesn't, and nobody else 
figures it out either, I'll just have one less use for the board.

The thing is, I've put in my time building projects based on chips, most 
recently with PICs, and I wanted to start higher up the ladder with 
ARMs. I've got too many projects on my mind and too few years left to 
get them done.

Of course, if you look past all this hand-waving, you can see my real 
problem is that I could never resist new technology*. I've cut myself on 
the bleeding edge more than once. Why should I stop now?
