I can only speak for myself. In my original response, I was thinking out loud about some of the available alternatives one could consider in choosing an appropriate host environment for EMC2. Once chosen, it and EMC2 would be available in LiveCD format just as the current Ubuntu-based distribution is. I consider myself a techno-geek of the first water, but I use the LiveCD just as you do. It's just as great a convenience for experienced users as for new ones. Of course, this ease of use is paid for in sweat equity invested by the development team who assemble and test the LiveCD. I tip my hat to them!
