Kirk; I have many Arduino boards here with 4 serial ports on them; just the simpler boards share serial as you have found. Actually, I have some "DCC" controllers for the "Lenz XPressnet" system that do serial over RS485 that I have published designs (code, etc) for that can share the same serial i/o port, but I think that using another serial port for most applications is better. ----------------------------------------------------------- John A.
